How to Install VST in Adobe Audition

Whether you’re in search of an intriguing delay effect, a lifelike reverb, or a vocal de-esser, there’s a VST. Adobe Audition supports VSTs for your projects.

We’ll share how to install VST in Adobe Audition, allowing you to utilize a broad range of audio plug-ins. VST, short for “Virtual Studio Technology”, opens up a world of possibilities with access to thousands of third-party plug-ins online, many of which are free to download.

How to Install VST in Adobe Audition

  1. Start by verifying that VSTs are enabled within Audition. If you haven’t used VSTs before, they will be disabled by default. Navigate to “Effects” > “Audio Plug-in Manager” to open a dialog box with various plug-in settings.
  2. Select the VST Plug-in Folders tab, and click on “Add” to specify a custom folder for your VSTs. Choosing “Default” will revert to your operating system’s default plug-in folder.
  3. Proceed to the Available Plug-ins tab and select “Scan for Plug-ins”. This action ensures that any plug-ins that you’ve recently installed or moved into the dedicated folder will be added to Audition. If a plug-in isn’t supported by the software, it will be listed under the unsupported sub-menu.
  4. Finally, decide which VSTs you plan to use in Audition and deselect the other plug-ins to conserve CPU power. Remember, you can always return and modify this list depending on your project requirements.
